When I finished Hunter Claimed, I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to Ellie and Karl. Their story felt complete, but I wanted to explore what happens after the big battles are over. What does everyday life look like when you’re in love with a Wendigo?
That’s how Hunter Revealed was born.
This bonus novella is my Valentine’s Day gift to readers. Instead of another world-ending crisis, I wanted to give Ellie and Karl something they rarely get: time together. Of course, being Karl and Ellie, a romantic weekend getaway quickly turns into a monster hunt.
One of my favorite aspects of this story is that it reveals a different side of Karl. Throughout the trilogy, he’s known as the terrifying monster everyone fears. Here, readers get to see the man behind the legend: frustrated by politics, trying to be a better partner, and learning that he doesn’t have to carry every burden alone.
The novella also shows how far Ellie and Karl have come as a couple. After three books spent building trust, they’re finally learning how to work together as equals and support one another’s strengths.
And, of course, I couldn’t resist adding a little more folklore. Sasquatches, rougarous, and other creatures from North American legends make an appearance, continuing the blend of mythology and urban fantasy that inspired the series from the beginning.
Most of all, Hunter Revealed is my thank-you to the readers who followed Ellie and Karl through the entire trilogy. A little romance, a little adventure, and one last chance to spend time with everyone’s favorite Wendigo.
